Have you a refrence, Mukami anf Skinner is what I know of that tries ir skinner in 1938 and Mukami recently. This configuration is diffirent

I built test beds like this as well as I stayed with the design Skinner demonstrated.
The thing that usually is not mentioned is that the more resistance to rotation of the horizontal arm the further the "turn" of the shaft it is rotating around and the higher the angle therefore the higher the lift against gravity.

It is that up-sweep angle that allows the mass to "fall".

I too would like to see someone have a go at a successful build. . . it seems like on rare occasion someone tries again, but no success.
