Hi Stranger. Thanks for sharing your excellent projects! A christmas present!
In #10 flyback with capacitor windings, can same be achieved with diode or scr across cap winding? Was delay or duty cycle on closing of S2 critical?
Thanks,
Kind regards, Sandy
Hello Stranger.
I put together the experiment in chapter 11; current in a ground wire.
My results were different from yours. I could not get much light with an earth ground. I got much more light using another coil as ground. Frequency of interruption made little difference to output in load or streamers. Duty cycle was directly proportional to brightness. Using a current probe as in your picture, I could see that there was a big current spike and ring down after the interruption. This didn't seem to appear as power in the load (can't measure voltage trace for comparison) . I found it almost impossible to measure anything other than current in ground wire because of interference either from the kacher or scope ground messing up the tuning. It didn't seem close to OU at any time.
The way this chapter is written suggests that you don't want to give more info, lol. I have it set up on the bench now if you can make any suggestions.
Kind regards, Sandy.

Hi Sandy,
Well, I not sure what kind of "more info" you want, you see FE on your scope even without tuning Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register at the forum by clicking here to see images.
Make proper coils, tune them to match resonances, make good grounding, increase PSU voltage etc
And please don't run this for a long time, it might be not healthy.
Hi Stranger. Thanks for reply. I did spend a couple of hours tuning but to get efficent tuning to the load using another coil as ground, because (being a kacher) it is not a fixed frequency oscillator, the interruption circuit changes the mode of oscillation and I can't get both good tuning and interruptions simultaneously with these coils. I will try with lower frequency coils next session. I tried earthing into a salty well! Better results with coils at 90 degrees like vasmus device for me at this stage. Did you try current probe on input to see if the spike draws a surge of power?
Kind regards, Sandy.

Hi Sandy,
Without good grounding it's a waste of time.
You can try use some very massive metal object instead of grounding, but probably it will not work well.
If you do it right, power supply is disconnected at the time of this spike, so there is no possibility to draw current from it.

Hi Stranger.
Thanks for reply. You say is waste of time without earth grounding and you say I see FE on scope with my set up with 2 coils and no earth
Ground. This is a bit contradictory. Where does energy come from in ideal set up in your understanding? This is kind of "more info" that would be nice. Otherwise anyone with tesla coil can place load between secondary current node and Earth ground, add interruption circuit and get OU. But is not that simple and without a little more info or theory to steer experiments from someone who has success, we just blindly searching for anomaly as usual. I may be too simple minded to understand, but at least I read your paper and attempt to understand in practice!
Kind regards, Sandy.
