Salt Water Ran Small Engine 2008
#1
Tinkerer discovered new method to run an engine as spark plug electrolysis, at lowered power level. His Document ,- Postal Service protected by date conceived , talks about small engine ignition coil modified with added magnetic field to plug cable. This was putting field at tips of plug in chamber,  and extend timing required from TDC to about late 34 degrees . Hydrogen gas uses this area engine timing. An electromagnet was hooked to resistor and ground. 13 turns #16 Wires wound around steel screw core and cable. Another extension of 7t over 5t cable at 90 degrees wind also increases the disruption to ignition.  The Magnetron rated about 10kv has low .5 Peak pulse amps. (not average current) When enhanced by a field, the sparking became 20 times bigger, 10 amps pulse, at slightly lowered high voltage. This is enough passing through low ohms solution to generate fuel gases. On time was about 34% duty cycle as flywheel goes around. Wow. Could drive a one cylinder Briggs riding lawnmower around with electric start. Alternator charges battery. 12 magnets run alternator while 1 magnet runs Ignition. (Both self contained) Minor extra parts added,- resistor,  fuse, accessory in line spark gap, diodes, etc. Photo of electromagnet on Internet - S1R9A9M9 coils. - See another man's version called- Megatran. You tube video running engine sounds like a water pump.

The DC generator is mounted under flywheel of all Briggs riding lawn mowers engines. The 2 AC wires extend to rectification to recharge battery or provide power to extra circuit. The flywheel contains 13 permanent magnets. 12 for the generator and 1 for the ignition. No input is used to run generator or ignition other than turning crankshaft. When hydrogen gas fuel is made at spark plug , the engine starts running. The battery was used for the starter motor only, then completely shut off. Power to make electrolysis is then coming from generator at idle speed. Salt water is allowed to flow into top of carb from hose + bottle. Diodes needed to get DC to make low efficiency electrolysis of water. Fuel gas forms at tips of spark plug and fires same time. The added wire coil changes the timing ,as is needed with hydrogen. The spark plug receives what is called pulse PEAK DC current as about 10A. Spark plug was changed to Champion QC12YC at 125 ohms , rather than original 4000ohms resistance. They also come apart to remove resistor to get a Zero ohms racing plug. ( copper #12 wire segment replacement)

You can verify an old used engine would just run by adding 70% alcohol, or acetylene gas from carbide stones + water added, and also Ether spray into carb. The sound of Nathren's water engine on hydrogen sounds like a water pump. Youtube (2 )videos by S1R9A9M9

Is leakage Inductance Voltage Useful from 2 coils wound on same steel core? First is high volts in microamps with own circuit, 2nd is low volts with current in amps. The 2nd line needs over 100v. The first line doesn't short across, but passes normal volts in pulses down it's circuit and leaks across to 2nd line. The transfer volts was bench tested with neon lamps meter to be 100-200 volts added to the low 12v DC volts side. It may be called capacitive coupling superimposed volts. (looking for 150V +12v to push the 7 peak amps with 120 ohm load, low duty cycle on time.)

Hi Russ. If you had 12V battery supply connected across the spark gap then the HV discharge from the coil would ionise the gap enough to get a huge current arc of 12V DC like a Welder. Maybe with a current limiting mechanism and interruption meschanism added, this is how to get a high amperage, short duration spark to work some magic on water in an ICE. Here is a funny video to illustrate the concept of HV ionisation of a spark gap with low voltage high current arcing.

12v DC is not likely to work. The salt water at spark plug gap  PLUS the tiny electrodes, acts as an electrical load of 118 ohms resistance. (figuring the plug was zero ohms) About 130 volts DC probably required which includes group of diodes for back protection of power supply from the high voltage. 15KV protection is loss of 10 volts as voltage drop from the source power.

Hi Russ. I think that resistance value may be questionable because spark gap is a non linear resistance. But I haven't tried it so I wouldn't know!

The DC generator is mounted under flywheel of all Briggs riding lawn mowers engines. On the S1R9A9M9 engine of 2008, it had what what called DUAL ALTERNATORS. The red and black wire is actually (2) separate AC alternators output. The opposite ends of the coils are grounded under the plastic ring under the flywheel. Black is AC  power, not a ground wire. The 2 AC wires extend to rectification to recharge battery or provide power to extra circuit. It is UNUSUAL to use the 2 wires at same time for same purpose, instead of headlights + charging line. They also come apart to remove resistor to get a Zero ohms racing plug. ( copper #12 wire segment replacement) Inverter box of 300-500W used with primary side of 9-10 amps DC from idling alternators. 110v DC full wave used from secondary side for firing spark plug. Peak pulse amps + average amps over the cycle time. The separate electromagnet 20 turns wire over plug wire, of 5 amps, causes extension of spark time for about 34% duty cycle. Firing Hydrogen requires late timing. Power as ABOUT 5 A + 10 A = 15 amps max from dual alternators.
