Inductive Steel Core
#1
Small experiment..  Could we create a core that also induces?  And what are the ramifications?

In this video, I take a small amount of 1/4" steel wire rope that is insulated and wrap it through a copper coil.  Apply 100 Hz AC to the copper coil and measure the steel core output.

A steel core will certainly induce.  And surprisingly this experiment did not cause the input to raise when shorting the steel coil core.

I am wondering what configurations this may be used for, perhaps pulse a motor from the steel coil?  It certainly exhibits a nice large magnetic field coming from the steel.
