How To Think About The BP Oil Spill Now

British Petroleum is the 5th largest corporation in the world.  It has a lot of money.  As it turns out it may not have enough money to make everybody whole who suffered as a result of the oil spill.  BP has done a lot of interesting and hard to figure out things all along.  Why?  They said at first that there was only about 1,000 barrels of oil leaking into the Gulf Of Mexico.  A little later on they said that the amount of oil that would likely enter the gulf waters would be "minimal".  They said that the impact to the wildlife and the environment would not be very significant.

Not long after their initial attempts to put covers on top of the wellhead to stop the oil failed, did they sent teams of lawyers down to New Orleans to get locals to sign papers in exchange for $5,000 checks.  Why?

As stated above, BP is a corporation and before you even begin to start to talk about BP, write about BP, discuss BP, or even just think about BP, it is important for you at the very least take a look at this very well-made video documentary on the subject of corporations.  It is called:  "The Corporation".  You can see the trailer for it right here.  If you seek out the full length movie online you will certainly find it.

When you see the full-length movie you will have a much better understanding of what we are dealing with when we think about BP.  President Obama could very well be a person with the most noble of intentions.  But, he like every other politician in this land gets his power ultimately from the ability to raise money, and where does this money come from?  It comes from corporations.

Should this scare you in view of everything we now know about the oil spill?

See the movie.
