Let The Madness Begin

Sunday, March 29, 2009 -  Michigan State is going to Motown.  The Spartans defeated number 1 seed Louisville 64-52 today to make it into the Final
Four.  Goran Suton had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans.  Michigan will play Connecticut who won in Arizona today next Saturday at Ford
Field in Detroit before an expected crowd of 72,000.  It has been 30 years since Magic Johnson led the Spartans to a national title over Larry Bird and
Indiana State.  The Louisville Cardinals lost for the first time in 14 games.  This was the 2nd straight year they were taken out of the NCAA
tournament in the regional final.

Villanova's 24-year Final Four drought is now over.  Today the Wildcats handed a 78-76 loss to Pittsburgh in the East Regional final.  In  just five
seconds, Scottie Reynolds provided a highlight that will long be remembered as one of the NCAA tournament's most exciting.  With no time left
Reynolds floated a layup that fell through the hoop with a half-second remaining.  Those points were the deciding factor in third-seeded Villanova's
win over top-seeded Pittsburgh.

The eyes of the sports world will be on Detroit this April 4th through 6th for the 2009 Men's Final Four.  Tickets for the Final Four in Detroit are selling at some of the lowest prices in the last few years as the weakening economy takes a bite out of the purchasing power of even the most rabid fans.
As the U.S. economy struggles, tickets for sporting events have become an expensive luxury item for a lot of people.  Sagging demand has created the lowest average ticket price for all the events of the Final Four contest according to figures released by StubHub, an online ticket market.

For all games during the tournament up to March 19, the average ticket price was $420.  This is in contrast to last year's average ticket price of $655 for the Final Four in San Antonio.
