Twitter.com has been around three years now, and has really made it's mark on the internet. Twitter allows users to create a profile and post small sniplets about whatever they want. Twitter is sort of like a blog host, but the posts are blurbs instead of detailed writings.

Twitter lets you follow other peoples "tweets" (blurbs) by following them. Once you add a person to your twitter follow list, your twitter home page shows all their posts. You can follow others, just as others can follow you. The idea is sort of a mix between instant messaging and a blog.

Many webmasters and website owners have been taking advantage of Twitters resources, and some real marketing strategies are emerging. Lots of large websites like www.rense.com and www.unexplainable.net are using this service to post their current news and updates. There are several advantages of doing this listed below:

1. Twitter allows your followers to receive your updated VIA cell phone. This way your followers can always stay up to date and receive reminders to come back to your website.

2. Twitter is filled with blog owners and other website owners. If you can manage to establish a large list of followers, your stories are articles will probably be picked up by other sites and linked to.

3. Even everyday surfers have Twitter accounts, so many times a surfer will post a tweet about your tweet. Sounds silly, but real traffic flows this way.

4. People are constantly checking out each others following lists. This can lead to easy automatic promotion for your Twitter account and your website.

5. Twitter allows you to post a profile link. I have seen some Twitter profiles have more than a Pagerank 5 rating. If you can build your Twitter pagerank, you can establish a backlink.

There are many Twitter tools available and signing up is easy. If you are an article marketer, I strongly suggest opening a Twitter account and start posting your articles. the extra media will provide nothing but benefit.
